Richard Cashmore - Clipper Challenge 2007/08

***********Crew Announced for Hull and Humber in Clipper Race 2007/08, see Blog for more details**********
Introduction

On 16th September 2007 I will be leaving Liverpool aboard Hull and Humber, one of ten Dubois designed 68-foot yachts a to take part in the 07/08 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

At over 35,000 miles, the Clipper 07-08 Race will be the World's longest race and will take some ten months for the yachts to return to the host port in Liverpool for the finish in the summer of 2008. All of the crew onboard are amateurs accompanied by a professional skipper.

Whilst this is a purely self-motivated adventure I couldn't miss the opportunity of raising some money for a worthy local charity, Naomi House.

All of the money I raise will go directly to Naomi house to support their work. In return, if interested, you can follow my exploits via my web blog, with details of the challenge both on and off the water!

Naomi House

Naomi House is a purpose-built children's hospice that provides a homely environment for children and young people with life-limiting conditions that mean that they will not live to become adults.

Situated just north of Winchester in Hampshire, Naomi House offer one-to-one palliative care that includes respite, terminal and bereavement care and support to children and their families in central southern England. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, it costs around £2.5 million every year to keep this service running.

With just 10% of income coming from government, Naomi House relies on the generosity of people in the community to continue its work. Their help and time allows Naomi House to provide these crucial care services, free of charge, to children and their families.
